ECSFTHFC Committee Meeting Thursday, December 5, 2013
In attendance were Dennis Joannedes, Kate Romanski, Hob Brown, Larry Hansen, Keith Meissner, Pete Rizzo, A.R. Ginn, and Barbara Haupt. Sue Rose was absent — in Hawaii.
Dennis opened the meeting by thanking committee members for their help and their commitment over the past three years. The concept began in the fall of 2010 and Dennis made the presentation to the ECSCA in May of 2011. The first draft of the by-laws were created in June of 2011 and our first committee meeting was in August of 2011. The committee has accomplished much in a short time.
AGENDA
***APPROVAL OF OCTOBER MINUTES
The committee agreed to remove two unnecessary sentences from the October minutes. A. R. moved we accept the minutes with the corrections; Hob seconded. The minutes were accepted as corrected.
*** ECSFTHOF INDUCTEES
With regard to the Inductees, everyone has now been notified. The ceremony will take place in February of 2014. Those connected to the inductee will provide the picture they wish to be displayed in the museum. Tom Ness will offer the picture for Parkbreck Em of Bishwell (Mave). Mike Gilpin has put together a picture of Keith Erlandson. The family of Larry MacQueen will come up with their picture. Hob and Lisa Bown are working with Tom Ness and Mike Gilpin and will get all the pictures framed and delivered to the Hall of Fame. At this point they have a couple of pictures of Shawfield Glenfire (Simon) and will decide which one looks better. Lisa has also located and been in discussion with several of Dean Bedford’s (Simon’s owner) grandchildren and is hopeful one of them might attend the induction to accept the award. Tom will be at the induction to accept for Mave and Larry MacQueen. Mike will accept for Keith Erlandson.
The only thing left to be done is to imprint the scrolls with new ECSFTHF logo. Barbara moved we change the scrolls to have the new ECSFTHF logo. A.R. seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
***CHANGING OF THE GUARD
We were pleased to have newly elected member, Keith Meissner, present for the conference call. The other new member, Robb Cotiaux, had to work and could not attend. It was decided through discussion that we will elect our new chairperson at a brief January meeting. Barbara will send out the notice with the agenda for the meeting. The new chair person shall be elected from and by the new 2014 HFC members.
***Website – possible changes, additions, and improvements
To attract and keep the cocker community interested, we discussed if it would be a good idea to have a section for articles and commentaries on the website. An article written by Steve Rodock and a commentary by Barbara were sent to committee members as possible examples. We also discussed the possibility of doing another survey.
Looking at the website, we are encouraged by the tally numbers that demonstrate when people access the website. Members agreed it would be a good idea to send our minutes to other clubs in our respective regions for distribution – both to club secretaries and individuals. We should be able to get these names from the regional reps on the Field Trial Committee.
***WALL OF CHAMPIONS & FUND RAISING
Hob reported on the people who had sent in their checks for the Wall of Champions. Pete said he has commitments from 9 or 10 other people who will be sending in their completed forms and checks. After the holidays will be a good time to remind people of this opportunity. We will put in a paragraph before the minutes talking about Wall of Champions, etc.
***LOGO PINS, LETTERHEAD & STATIONERY
The pins were a good will gesture on the part of the committee. Committee members reimbursed Terry for the cost. When we need to utilize stationery, we can create it on our own printers with the use of the letterhead.
NEW BUSINESS
***COMMUNICATING WITH THE FIELD
Regional representatives on the committee can send news and minutes to clubs and individuals in their respective regions. We could devise a HOF calendar and/or make use of the calendar on the Cockers in the Field website to post important dates and events
***HISTORY AND TIME LINE
Will be worked on this winter.
***HOF DISPLAY
At the springer National AR talked to John Leininger regarding the two HOF cabinets for the springers and cockers. John is working on the springer cabinet at present and the estimate for the cocker cabinet would be $4700. Hob felt strongly it should look good and we should give John the go ahead. We will put this item on our January agenda.
***FINANCES
Do we have the money to do the framing of the inductees’ pictures, pay for the display cabinet made by John Leininger, plus the display being created by the students under the tutelage of Terry Reckart? We will reimburse Terry for these funds because the school will need the money up front.
We have just short of $7000 in the treasury at this time and we do have the ongoing monthly expense of around $250 for our webmaster on the Hall of Fame website.
***ADJOURNMENT AND DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held on January 7th at 9 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 9:56 p.m. EST with a big thank you to Dennis for all his hard work and best wishes to all for the holidays.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara Haupt
