English Cocker Spaniel Field Trial Hall of Fame Committee Meeting

January 17, 2017 – 7:00 pm CST (Conference Call)

In attendance were:  Bethann Wiley, Larry Hansen, Keith Meissner, John Bishop, Jeff Janousek

Guest:  Kate Romanski (ESCA Historian)

Absent: Rob Cotiaux, Sheryl Mayo, Rob Cotiaux

Past Members: A.R. Ginn, Pete Rizzo (both absent)

Old Business 

The Hall of Fame Committee would like to thank AR Ginn & Pete Rizzo for their years of service to the Hall of Fame Committee. They have been instrumental in helping the Hall of Fame Committee to achieve their goals. The Hall of Fame Committee would also like to welcome new committee members John Bishop and Jeff Janousek to the committee. We looking forward to working with John and Jeff in furthering the Hall of Fame.

New Business

  1. Induction ceremony preparations: Bethann & Bethann had the prints and photos framed and matted, she also had them sent down to the Hall of Fame. Tonya at the Hall of Fame will display them for us in the Cocker section. Paul McGagh has written an article for Sydney and Bethann has pieced together information on Pete from Clarence Wingate, Pete’s handler, and also Albert Winslow from history records to be read at the Induction Ceremony. Bethann will take photos while at the Induction Ceremony and will get those to Kate in order for an article to be published in the ECSCA magazine and posted on the website.
  2.  Develop a new calendar for 2017:The next meeting will be March 21st of 2017.  Bethann will update the committee on the Induction Ceremony and the HoF committee will then decide whether a further spring meeting is needed.  The following HoF calendar for 2017 will be tentatively used

June 1 – Aug. 31 Hall of Fame nomination accepted

September – Meeting of the Hall of Fame Committee

October – Meeting of the Hall of Fame Committee

Presentation of inductees made at the NCC 

  1.  Items for the future:  
  2.  Trial at the Hall of Fame Feb. 9th, 10th, & 11th Keith will give the HOF committee a report on the Cocker Field Trial being held in Tennesee at the HoF.
  3. Past HoF committee member Pete Rizzo will be working on completing the plaque made for the HoF for the Wall of Champions.
  4. Kate will send the new committee members more information on the history of English Cocker Spaniel field trials.
  5. Fundraising for the HoF: Field Trials, Hunt Test, and National Amateur Championship etc…
