Minutes of Hall of Fame Field Trial Committee

Tuesday October 29, 2012

We are pleased to announce that your Hall of Fame committee received 8 nominations, 4 dogs and 4 people as candidates for induction into the English Cocker Spaniel Field Trial Hall of Fame. All nominees were worthy candidates and received at least one vote in the preliminary round, making those not selected eligible for next year without the necessity of being re-nominated.

The HFC unanimously selected two people and two dogs for the 2013 Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony will take place formally at the Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, TN in February 2013. Other breeds will also be electing dogs to their Hall of Fame. Generally, the Springer Spaniels hold a field trial in conjunction with the event. We are hoping to someday also hold a Cocker trial in conjunction with the ceremony.

We are busy working on the displays for our space. We are planning to have a time line showing the history of field trialing Cockers in this country, in addition there will be plaques honoring the inductees and as a plaque recognizing founding sponsors for our hall of fame who contributed money to make this all possible. We have retained the services of a graphic artist to not only coordinate the above, he will also be creating a graphic that will tell the story about the English Cocker Spaniels as a companion in the field, at home and in competition. Lastly we

are reserving space for a Wall of Champions where every dog who has earned an FC or AFC title can have its name engraved on a bronze tag with the registered name, field titles, call name, date of birth, name of breeder and name of owner. Look for a form that will be posted on field cockers that enable you to sponsor your favorite champion dog. This will also help us fund cost of displays and maintenance.

Your new Hall of Fame dogs and people to be inducted are: Mrs. Ella Moffit, Mrs. Gladys Harriman, Camino Boy and Millie. Complete biographies are attached. In addition, Mr. Roland Harriman and Mr. Albert Winslow will be carried forward as will dogs Frank and Silk.

Special thanks to Lisa Brown, Kate Romanski for their liaison work on our history. Also, I would like to thank our Advisory Panel and members of the Hall of Fame committee for all their hard work in making this possible.

Respectfully Submitted,

Dennis N Joannides, Chairman HFC
